Personalizing your emails is one of the most fundamental optimizations you must implement in your email campaigns to ensure better engagement with your subscribers. We have made personalizing emails using merge tags effortless in tinyEmail. Let's have a look.

Important

If a subscriber does not have data associated with a merge tag you added, tinyEmail leaves the personalized tag blank. You will never send the dreaded "Hello First Name" email with us!

Add merge tags while editing your email template

While editing an email template, click on the text area where you want to add the personalized text. Then click on the "Merge tags" drop-down menu. From here, pick the merge tag you'd like to use.

All default fields inside tinyEmail are available for you as merge tags.

List of merge tags you can use in your emails

Email: CUSTOMER_EMAIL
First Name: CUSTOMER_FIRST_NAME
Last Name: CUSTOMER_LAST_NAME
Phone: CUSTOMER_PHONE
Birthday: CUSTOMER_BIRTHDAY
Company: CUSTOMER_COMPANY
Last Purchase Order: CUSTOMER_LAST_PURCHASE_ORDER
Last Purchase Price: CUSTOMER_LAST_PURCHASE_PRICE
Full Address: CUSTOMER_FULL_ADDRESS

merge tags

Merge tags appear as preformatted and in human-readable form when you add them. Note that the merge tag text automatically takes on the styling of the text around it. You can, of course, style the personalized text separately using the same text styling options available in tinyEmail.

Personalize your subject line and preview text

You can also use merge tags to personalize your subject lines and preview texts. Here, you will not find a drop-down menu and instead have to type in the tag yourself.
